TechRing patient data for clinicians
With a patient’s permission, FirmTech partner clinicians can see TechRing firmness, duration and nighttime erection data between visits, so care decisions rest on measured numbers rather than recall alone.

Can a doctor see a patient’s TechRing data?
Yes. Through the FirmTech provider program, a clinician can view a patient’s TechRing firmness, duration and nighttime erections between visits, but only if the patient chooses to share. FirmTech says the patient decides who sees the data and can stop anytime. Data is handled to HIPAA standards and is never sold.
What the TechRing measures
| Measure | When | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Firmness | During sex | Measured by the sensors in the ring during each session |
| Duration | During sex | How long each session’s erection lasts |
| Nighttime erection count | Overnight | How many erections occur during sleep |
| Nighttime strength and length | Overnight | How strong and how long each nighttime erection is |
| Erectile Fitness Score | Both | One number from 0 to 100 that rolls up every session |
| Personal insights | Logged by patient | Sleep, drinks, workouts and medication, and what moves the score |

Why nighttime data
Why nighttime erections matter clinically
Nighttime erections happen without arousal, so FirmTech describes them as a clean read of blood flow, nerves and hormones. Penile arteries are smaller than the heart’s, so changes often show up there first. Until the TechRing, measuring them usually meant a sleep lab.
FirmTech has a multi-center study underway on nighttime and during-sex rigidity versus coronary atherosclerosis in men over 40, and a trial comparing the TechRing with RigiScan. See FirmTech research.

Common questions
- Can a doctor see a patient’s TechRing data?
- Yes, with the patient’s permission. Through the provider program, partner clinicians can view firmness, duration and nighttime erections between visits. FirmTech says the patient decides who sees the data and can stop sharing anytime. Data is stored to HIPAA standards, never sold or shared with advertisers, and can be deleted from inside the app.
- What does the FirmTech app track?
- The FirmTech app, free with the TechRing, tracks firmness and duration during sex, plus the count, strength and length of nighttime erections. It rolls everything into an Erectile Fitness Score from 0 to 100. You can log sleep, drinks, workouts and medication, and the app shows what moves your score. It works on iPhone and Android over Bluetooth.
- Why track nighttime erections?
- FirmTech notes that healthy men have 3 to 5 erections a night during sleep. They happen without arousal, so they are a clean read of blood flow, nerves and hormones. Penile arteries are smaller than the heart’s, so changes often show up there first. The TechRing measures these erections at home rather than in a sleep lab.
- Who benefits most from tracking erections?
- Men who want objective numbers on their sexual health benefit most from the TechRing. That includes men starting or changing a treatment who want to see if it works, and men who want a personal baseline. FirmTech research underway includes tracking erectile recovery after prostate cancer surgery and monitoring erectile function during testosterone therapy.
- How long does the TechRing battery last?
- The TechRing battery lasts up to about 12 hours on a full charge, enough for a full night of tracking. A full charge takes 2 to 4 hours with the included USB charger. In the morning, hold the button for 3 seconds, put the ring on the charger and open the app to sync the night.
- How does the TechRing compare to sleep lab testing?
- Until the TechRing, measuring erections usually meant a sleep lab; the TechRing measures at home, during sex or overnight. FirmTech has a clinical trial underway comparing the TechRing with RigiScan, the clinic standard, with 35 men enrolled as of November 2026. Results of that trial have not been published on FirmTech’s site yet.
